Issues related to performance and use of cc/bcc fields while sending emails.  

What is the Issue?

Due to tool performance issues, processing times for delivery of emails to students is currently taking longer than expected. See below for suggested workarounds to minimize the impact

  • Avoid using cc or bcc fields when sending batch emails. The mailbox added in cc or bcc fields will receive a copy of each email sent to each student in the batch. Using cc or bcc is not necessary as a copy of the communication will be available in Sent Communications for the sender. 
  • Due to performance issues, restrict batch emails to 1000 recipients or less. For example, if you are sending an email to 10,000 students, do it in 10 batches of 1000 recipients. To avoid having to rebuild the formatting and hyperlinks of your email 10 times, open multiple windows of the comms tool and copy/paste your formatted email to the new screen. It takes approximately 2 hours for the comms tool to send out 1000 emails. Multiple batches can be started in parallel.
